This presentation can be used as an introduction to narrative and will therefore work alongside any text. It can also be used to reinforce understanding of a range of narrative methods that students have encountered in text and will particularly appeal to those teachers delivering LITB1 for AQA B. It includes:
Information and guidance on:
- How writers engage the reader
- Time, place and mood
- Narrator, plot and characterisation
- Narrative intervention
- Tension and drama
and a range of activities which can be done in class or for homework, either individually or as pair or group work which are designed to guide students towards an analysis of narrative approaches and techniques. There is a variety of written assignments which can be applied to any text or group of texts.
The exam questions are based on AQA B criteria but can be adapted for use with other specifications.
